Hello all :)
Hello Lee,
I know this might be a strange thing to ask here about a different linux distro, but I was just wondering as I'm trying to make this work. I've seen that crux linux runs on the efika mx smartbook and has an x windows driver compiled for it. On the distro I'm trying to use (armedslack) there is no driver, instead the efika mx smartbook in question uses only the inbuilt (presumably into the kernel) vesa driver.
Yes it uses vesa kernel and xorg-vesa driver.
What I was wondering is how the x window driver for the efika mx was created? From what I've read it uses at least one propietary part and the files xf86-video-imx and libz160.
I've readed about it from powerdeveloper forums, where steev made the driver work in gentoo. For CRUX-ARM is in development status, because all propietary libs/drivers/addons should be downloaded from Freescale site accepting their licenses. You can check how steev did it and review CRUX-ARM ports to see if you can port it to the distro you are using.
Can anyone here please tell me if I need any additional pieces and how the driver in crux was created?
Check powerdeveloper.org forums and you'll find steev's work. I think it should help you to understand how to manage the propietary driver and all its dependencies in your current distro.
thanks
